Canvas quiz troubleshooting checklist (before your next attempt)

A practical checklist to reduce disconnects, reloads, and noisy log events during quizzes.

Summary

Use this checklist to keep your Canvas quiz attempt stable and to minimize unexpected reloads, focus changes, and “mystery” events in the timeline.

Quick checklist

Before you start

  • Prefer a laptop/desktop over a phone when possible.
  • Use a stable connection (wired or strong Wi‑Fi). Avoid hotspots unless you trust them.
  • Close unnecessary tabs/apps (especially streaming, downloads, cloud sync).
  • Disable aggressive ad blockers / privacy extensions for the quiz site if they cause reloads.
  • Turn off OS notifications and Focus/Do Not Disturb interruptions.
  • Keep the device plugged in; disable battery saver modes during the attempt.
  • Avoid switching windows, changing audio devices, or connecting/disconnecting Bluetooth mid‑quiz.

If it happens anyway

  • Don’t refresh repeatedly; wait briefly and let Canvas reconnect if it can.
  • Note the exact time, device, browser, and network type (Wi‑Fi/wired/hotspot).
  • Take a screenshot of any error messages.
